Hey Sergey Brin. I would like to ask you some questions about your Ted talk you just did. What was the main idea behind the Google Glass?
The idea behind the Google Glass is that we wanted people to connect more with each other but also connect to information. Nowadays when we want information the only thing we do is just looking at our phone. But how can you connect to people when the only thing you do is looking down?
You’re
right about that. But I got the feeling that when you put the glasses on, you
can’t see everything what is going on?
That isn’t true.
Because of that we put the display up high, out of your line of sight. So you
can just look everywhere and make eye contact with the people around you.
That is
really great designed. It really supports the main idea of the Google Glass.
When did you guys start with this project?
Around two years.
First prototypes we made where huge. It were just all cell phones strapped to
your head. It’s was uncomfortable and heavy. But as you see now we made it very
comfortable. That had been very important with the making of the Google Glass. But
there was also an unexpected surprise that all of our original prototypes
didn’t have.
It looks very comfortable ,
but also very light. What was this unexpected surprise?
The
came was really unexpected. It was a little miracle that we were able to
capture moments spent with family and friends. Because it takes a lot of time
to take you phone or camera or something else to memorize that moment. With the
Google Glass you just say : “Okay Google Glass take a picture”. It snaps an
image within the blink of an eye.
That is something very cool. I wish
you all the best in the future with the Google Glass. Thanks for this
interview.
Thank
you. It was a pleasure to have this interview.
